Local Search – What does it mean for your business?
The local search market is heating up very fast. One of the reasons is that people are using the internet instead of the traditional yellow pages. The question is, are you listed when a person does a local search.
Let’s take a look at what local search is. The example that I will use is typing in Google the term – herbs, Belen, NM -
As you can see in the image below, when you do a search for a specific city a map usually comes up with the businesses listed that match the term searched. In this case, Country Herbs and Tea House came up first in that search. Scroll down to the second image.
When someone does a local search the area circled is where you want your business listed. In the case of Google, this is where they will list your businesses information. So, you need to get listed. If you see a listing there, unless you created it yourself it may be lacking in information or the information may be wrong. Anything below the map is the natural search in Google. That is a client’s listing. Scroll down for more.
The local search is not for just brick and mortar businesses. If you have a home business you can get listed, too. I work from home and have been able to get E-Marketing Systems listed in several categories, one being internet marketing. If you search Internet Marketing, Belen, NM you will find my listing.
